This article explains how to read the Upload Summary after uploading ClearStream test results using a CSV file, what each status means, and how to identify and correct errors before submitting your report.
01/ Introduction
When you upload ClearStream test results using a CSV file, the ZDHC Gateway checks the information provided and displays an Upload Summary.
This summary helps you understand which results were saved successfully, which require corrections, and whether any parameters still need completion before you submit your report.
02/ Prerequisites
Before reviewing the Upload Summary, make sure that:
- You have access to the ClearStream module as a ZDHC Approved Wastewater Laboratory.
- The ClearStream project is in the Reporting stage.
- You have downloaded and completed the parameters CSV file for the relevant report.
03/ How to Review the Upload Summary
- Open the ClearStream module and navigate to My Projects.
- Select Reporting and open the project you want to complete.
- Under Select Type of Data Upload, select File Upload and click Upload CSV.
- Select your completed CSV file and upload it.
Once the file has been processed, the Upload Summary displays the results of your upload.
- Review the counters to understand which results were saved and which may require further action. Refer to the table below for an explanation of each status.
If errors are reported, click the errors bar below the counters to view the details.
- Click Continue to return to the reporting screen, where you can review your results and complete or correct any remaining parameters.
- Once all required parameters are complete, click Review and then Submit to submit your report.
04/ Understanding the Upload Summary
The Upload Summary includes five counters indicating how the ZDHC Gateway processed the rows in your CSV file.
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Submitted | The total number of rows included in your CSV file. | No action required. |
| Applied | Rows where the values were successfully saved to the report. Previously entered values may be overwritten. | Review the results to confirm they are correct. |
| Partially applied | Rows where some information was saved, but other fields were rejected or could not be processed. | Review these parameters and complete or correct the missing information directly on the platform. |
| Rejected | Rows that could not be saved because they contain invalid information, such as an incorrect parameter ID or an invalid value. | Review the errors, correct the CSV file and upload it again, or enter the results manually. |
| Skipped | Rows that were not updated because the same values were already saved or the rows were empty. | No action is needed for results already saved. Complete any remaining parameters if necessary. |
Note: If you upload the same CSV file more than once without making changes, previously saved results may appear as Skipped. This does not mean the results have been lost.
05/ How to Correct Upload Errors
If the Upload Summary shows rejected or partially applied rows, you can review the errors and correct the affected parameters.
- Click the errors bar in the Upload Summary to see which rows or fields could not be processed.
- Review the error details to identify the information that needs to be corrected.
- Click Continue to return to the reporting screen.
- Find the affected parameters and correct or complete the missing information directly on the ZDHC Gateway. Alternatively, correct the CSV file and upload it again.
- Once all required parameters are complete, click Review and then Submit.
Note: An error in one row does not necessarily prevent the other results in your CSV file from being saved. Always review the Upload Summary to identify which results require further action.
06/ Tips & Notes
Tips:
- Always use the parameters CSV file downloaded from the ZDHC Gateway for the specific ClearStream report you are completing.
- You can download the CSV file again to obtain the latest saved results, including any corrections made directly on the platform.
- For sludge heavy metals, you only need leachate results when the corresponding sludge result exceeds the applicable threshold. If leachate testing is not required, leave those rows empty.
Notes:
- CSV format: Keep the file in CSV format when editing and saving it. Spreadsheet programmes such as Excel may automatically change certain values, including CAS numbers or special characters. When using Excel, import the file as text and save it as CSV UTF-8.
- Parameter IDs: If the parameters in a report are updated after you downloaded the CSV file, the existing parameter IDs may no longer be valid. If your upload is rejected because of outdated IDs, download a new parameters CSV file and transfer your results into it.
- Missing or rejected values: Before submitting your report, make sure all required parameters have been completed and any rejected fields have been corrected.
