This article explains what Step 5 of the ClearStream workflow looks like from the supplier's perspective and what to expect at this stage.
01/ Introduction
Step 5 — Wastewater testing is a passive step for suppliers. Once your laboratory accepts your request and you pay the ClearStream reporting fee in Step 4, the laboratory conducts wastewater testing at your facility. You do not need to take any action on the platform during this step.
Step 5 remains active until the laboratory confirms the start of testing and submits its results. At that point, Step 6 — Review test results — unlocks automatically, and you are notified.
02/ What to expect
Sampling at your facility
After accepting the request, your laboratory will reach out to you to arrange sampling. This coordination happens outside the ZDHC Gateway platform. Ensure the relevant staff at your facility are aware and available.
Testing started notification
When the laboratory confirms on the platform that testing has begun, you receive a notification. This does not require any action from you — it is an informational update to let you know the process is progressing.
Results notification
When the laboratory completes testing and submits results, you receive a notification, and Step 6 unlocks. At that point, you have 14 days to review and accept or decline the results.
03/ Why Step 6 may not unlock immediately
Step 6 is unlocked only after the laboratory has submitted the results. If Step 6 is still locked, it means:
- The laboratory is still conducting the physical tests at your facility.
- The laboratory has not yet confirmed the start of testing on the platform.
- The laboratory is in the process of entering results on the platform.
If you are worried about a delay, contact your laboratory directly. You can find contact details in Step 3 of the ClearStream workflow.
Note: If you believe there is a significant delay and cannot reach your laboratory, contact ZDHC customer support.
04/ Permitted Actions During Step 5
You cannot advance the ClearStream workflow during Step 5. However, you can:
View your current step status and cycle progress.
- Review the facility profile you submitted in Step 2 (read-only at this stage).
- Check the activity log for a record of events so far in this cycle.
- Begin a new cycle for a different facility (if applicable — this depends on your account setup).
Note: It is not possible to restart the ClearStream journey once a laboratory has accepted your request. The testing cycle must run to completion before a new one can begin.
