This article explains how to review the test results submitted by your laboratory, what your options are, and what each decision means for your ClearStream process.
01/ Introduction
Step 6 of the ClearStream workflow — Review test results — becomes available once your selected laboratory has submitted the wastewater test results and locked them on the platform. You are notified immediately when results are available. Until results are submitted, this step remains locked and you do not need to take any action while the laboratory is conducting testing.
When the step unlocks, you can open the results and choose to accept or send them back to the laboratory for correction. You have 14 days to make a decision. If no action is taken within 14 days, the results are automatically accepted. Auto-acceptance is irreversible — there is no mechanism to undo it.
02/ The review deadline
When the Review test results step becomes active, the step card shows:
- An action required pill.
- A countdown showing the number of days remaining to make a decision.
- A note stating that the results will be automatically accepted if no action is taken before the deadline expires.
Tip: If you need more time to review the results, be mindful of the countdown. Auto-acceptance after 14 days means results are locked and your ClearStream report is generated without any further action from you. If you have concerns about the results, act before the deadline.
03/ What you can see in the test results
When you open the Review test results step, you can view:
- All parameters that were tested and the measured value reported by the laboratory for each.
- The result status for each parameter: meets the requirements or does not meet the requirements.
- For MRSL-linked parameters: whether the substance was detected or not detected.
- A summary of results across all parameters.
04/ Actions
Option 1: Accept the results
If you are satisfied with the results, accept them to proceed.
- In the Review test results step, review the results shown.
- Click Accept.
- Confirm your decision.
Once accepted, the cycle advances to Step 7 — ClearStream & next steps — where you can access and download your ClearStream report. The results also become visible to connected organisations that have wastewater (WW) data sharing enabled on their connection with you.
Option 2: Send back to the laboratory
If you believe there is an error in the results — for example, an incorrect value was entered by the laboratory — you can send the results back for correction.
- In the Review test results step, click Send back to laboratory.
- Select a reason from the dropdown.
- Optionally add further explanation in the notes field.
- Submit.
The laboratory is notified immediately, along with the reason you provided. The laboratory can then update specific parameter values (test method and detected value) and re-submit. Once the laboratory re-submits and locks the corrected results, the Review test results step reopens and the 14-day countdown resets.
Tip: You cannot edit individual parameter values yourself — corrections must be made by the laboratory. Use this option when there is a clear error in the data, not to delay an outcome you disagree with.
Note: The laboratory can only correct the test method and detected value per parameter. The parameter list itself cannot be changed. For fundamental errors affecting the parameter list, contact ZDHC Customer Support.
05/ Auto-acceptance after 14 days
If you take no action within 14 days of the results being submitted, the results are automatically accepted. Your ClearStream Report is generated as if you had clicked Accept. This cannot be undone.
Note: There is currently no mechanism for a ZDHC admin to reverse an auto-acceptance. Check your results as soon as you receive the notification to avoid this.
