A new product classification list takes effect in August 2026. This article explains what is changing, which products are affected, and what you need to do.
01/ Introduction
The ZDHC Gateway uses a standardised list of substrate, category, and use type values to classify chemical products. Starting from August 2026, this list will be updated. The new list introduces revised values across all three classification levels.
From August 2026, a new classification list is in effect on the platform. When you create a new product or edit an existing one, the drop-downs for substrate, category, and use type will reflect only the new list. You will not be able to select values from the old list for new or edited products.
02/ Which products are affected?
| Scenario | Impact |
|---|---|
| New products created from August 2026 | Must use values from the new list. The old values will not be available. |
| Existing products that are edited from August 2026 | Must be updated to use values from the new list before they can be saved. |
| Existing products that are not edited | Keep their current classification values. No automatic migration will occur. |
03/ What do I need to do?
If you have existing products that you plan to edit after August 2026, you will need to update their classifications to values from the new list as part of the edit. The platform will prompt you to do this before saving.
If you have products that you do not plan to edit, no action is required. They will retain their existing classifications.
04/ Where to find the new classification list
The updated substrate, category, and use type values are available on the ZDHC Gateway, within the ChemCheck module. Contact your ZDHC account manager or visit the ZDHC resources section for the full list.
