Formulators can generate unique QR codes on the ZDHC Gateway for their published chemical products. These QR codes are printed on product barrels or packaging and allow suppliers to instantly access key product information with a quick scan.
Please refer to the below FAQs for a more detailed understanding of the new feature.
Product QR codes are unique, automatically generated codes that link directly to verified product information on the ZDHC Gateway. When printed on product barrels or packaging, they allow you to instantly view key product details, such as the ZDHC MRSL Conformance Level and product status, by scanning the code with a smartphone or tablet.
QR codes make it easier and faster to:
Verify product identity upon delivery.
Check ZDHC MRSL Conformance without logging into the ZDHC Gateway.
Save time during audits and chemical inventory checks.
Improve supply chain transparency by linking physical products to verified data.
This is part of a broader ZDHC effort to boost visibility and digital traceability across the supply chain.
Not yet. QR codes are a new, optional feature that formulators can choose to use. ZDHC encourages all formulators to generate and print QR codes for their published products to make verification easier for suppliers.
You can scan a QR code using:
The camera app on your smartphone or tablet (most modern devices support this).
Any free QR code scanning app.
When scanned, your device will open a product summary page in your browser. You can find more guidance here: 📘 How to Use ZDHC Product QR Codes - Suppliers.
The product page that opens after scanning shows a summary of:
Identification and status
Product Name, PID, Status, Expiration Date
ZDHC Conformance information
ZDHC MRSL Conformance Level, Chemicals to Zero Level
Other key details
Substrate, Use Category, Use Type
If the product status shows as expired, it means the certification hasn't been renewed within the 8-week grace period after it expired, so the product no longer meets ZDHC MRSL Conformance.
You can request a re-certification directly from the same page that opens after scanning the QR code. The formulator will be notified once your request is submitted.
No, anyone can scan a product QR code and view the public summary page. However, if you want to access detailed product information, you will need to log into your ZDHC Gateway account.
Please try the following steps:
Make sure your camera lens is clean and the QR code label is not damaged.
Hold your device steady and ensure the QR code is fully visible on your screen.
Check your internet connection.
If the QR code still doesn’t open, use a different QR code scanning app or contact your formulator to confirm the product details.
Yes. Each QR code is linked directly to live data on the ZDHC Gateway. If the formulator updates or re-certifies a product, those changes will automatically be reflected the next time you scan the QR code.
If you suspect a QR code may be fake, please contact our Customer Support Team immediately, so we can initiate an investigation. To help us assess the situation quickly, please provide:
Where the product was purchased
Pictures of the product and the packaging
A screenshot of what appears after scanning the QR code
We will guide you through the next steps and work with relevant stakeholders to verify the product.
