What is the ZDHC Performance InCheck?

The Performance InCheck is the entry-level for a supplier for input chemical management. Suppliers use it to check whether the formulations purchased or used by them conform to the ZDHC MRSL by comparing them with the ZDHC MRSL commercial formulations listed in the ZDHC Gateway. The inventory considered for this InCheck is self-generated by the supplier and is not verified by a third party.

What is the objective of a ZDHC Performance InCheck Report?

Performance InCheck Report is to:

  • Self-evaluate a supplier's chemical inventory for ZDHC MRSL Conformance and Chemicals to Zero by comparing it with the database of verified chemical products in the ZDHC Gateway - Chemical Module.
  • Plan actions by suppliers to improve ZDHC MRSL and Chemicals to Zero conformance of their input chemical inventory.
  • Demonstrate implementation of chemical purchasing practices under the ZDHC Supplier to Zero evaluation system.
What data and information is given in the ZDHC Performance InCheck Report?

The Performance InCheck Report is a document that numerically and graphically summarises:

  • The number of chemical products uploaded by the supplier as its inventory for the month, along with the inventory type.
  • The number and percentage of chemical products from this inventory that are listed in the ZDHC Gateway.
  • The ZDHC MRSL Conformance Levels of these products listed in the ZDHC Gateway.
  • Summary of the chemical products utilised within the supplier’s facility, along with their conformity to Chemicals to Zero Levels.
  • The InCheck Report also provides high-level next steps for the supplier regarding ZDHC MRSL conformance improvement actions for its chemical inventory.
  • As a quick snapshot, a graphical representation (in the form of a bar chart) of the product conformance overview by count and weight is also provided.
How often should I generate a ZDHC Performance InCheck Report?

Suppliers should generate a Performance InCheck Report once every month to monitor and improve their chemical inventory continuously. Signatory Brands can update themselves on these Reports to track the supplier’s chemical inventory performance on the ZDHC MRSL conformance.

Are the data and information in the ZDHC Performance InCheck Report verified by an external party?

The Performance InCheck Report is based on chemical inventory data provided by a supplier, which is not verified or validated by an external third party or second party.
While suppliers may use the Performance InCheck Report to demonstrate the ZDHC MRSL Conformance Levels of their chemical products in its chemical inventory to interested stakeholders, it should be noted that this should be supported by a Verified InCheck Level 1 to give credibility to the report through a validation of the chemical inventory.

Can a supplier share its ZDHC Performance InCheck Report with a brand/retailer?

Suppliers can share their ZDHC Performance InCheck Reports with their connected brands online on the ZDHC Gateway. Suppliers can also share Performance InCheck Reports offline with interested stakeholders by downloading the report as a PDF file.

How can a supplier generate a ZDHC Performance InCheck Report?

For a detailed overview of the steps in generating the Performance InCheck Report, please see refer to this article.

Which chemical inventory list (CIL) template should a supplier use to generate the InCheck Report?

Each ZDHC Approved InCheck Solution Provider has their own chemical inventory list (CIL) template for InCheck Report generation, and suppliers must use the CIL format provided by the solution provider they are working with.

What is the time window during which a supplier can generate an InCheck report for a specific calendar month?

A supplier can generate an InCheck report for a specific calendar month within a 42-day window. The 42-day period starts after the last day of the month the supplier is reporting on, not from the beginning of the month. For example, if a supplier wants to generate an InCheck report for April, the 42-day reporting period begins on 1st May. This means the report can be generated at any time from 1st May to 11th June (42 days after 30th April). After the 42-day window has passed, the supplier will no longer be able to generate the report for that month.

What is the difference between ZDHC Performance InCheck Report and ZDHC ChemCheck Report?
  • The ChemCheck Report is a product passport for a chemical formulation. It demonstrates the chemical product's conformance with the ZDHC MRSL. With this report, chemical formulators can assure their customers that their chemical products have been verified to the ZDHC Conformance Standard. It includes a chemical product summary with the ZDHC MRSL Conformance Level and its description.
  • The ZDHC Performance InCheck Report shows the suppliers how much of their chemical inventory on-site conforms to the ZDHC MRSL. The inventory list of the chemical products uploaded by the supplier on the third-party ZDHC Solution Providers Platform is screened against the ZDHC Gateway chemical product database to generate a Performance InCheck Report.
