This article gives new Approved ZDHC MRSL Certifiers a quick orientation to ChemCheck in the ZDHC Gateway — what your organisation does on the platform, how you access it, and where to start.
01/ Introduction
In the ZDHC Gateway, you can review and certify products directly in the platform, one product at a time, without any file upload. The Excel upload option is still available for bulk operations, but the in-platform flow is the primary method for most certification work. Your organisation also now receives products via an explicit assignment by the chemical formulator — you cannot certify a product unless it has been assigned to you first.
02/ Your role in ChemCheck
As an Approved ZDHC MRSL Certifier on the ZDHC Gateway, your organisation is responsible for reviewing chemical products submitted by Chemical Formulators and assigning ZDHC MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List) conformance levels. You may also assign Chemicals to Zero (CtZ) certifications if your organisation is accredited for those.
Your work on the platform has three parts:
- Receiving product assignments — Chemical Formulators assign their products to your organisation. Those products appear automatically in your Approvals overview.
- Reviewing and certifying products — You review the product's Safety Data Sheet and assign the appropriate ZDHC MRSL level (and CtZ level if applicable).
- Managing your certifications — You can deactivate certifications if needed. The platform recalculates product levels automatically.
03/ Your main area: the Approvals overview
When you log in as a certification body user, your main working area is the Approvals tab. This is where all products assigned to your organisation are listed, along with their current certification status.
From the Approvals overview, you can:
- See all products currently assigned to your organisation
- Filter and search by formulator, product name, or status
- Open a product to review its SDS and assign certifications
04/ How products reach you
Chemical Formulators assign your organisation to their products. When they do, the product automatically appears in your Approvals overview.
Note: The platform does not currently send an automatic notification when a new product is assigned to you. Formulators are instructed to contact your organisation directly after assignment. If you are expecting a product to appear and it has not, ask the formulator to confirm the assignment has been saved and to provide the product name and product ID.
05/ What you need before you can certify
Before you can assign a certification to a product, you must:
- Open the product from your Approvals overview
- Select a Safety Data Sheet to base the review on (either the formulator's SDS or a CB-provided SDS)
Once an SDS is selected, the ZDHC MRSL certifications table unlocks, and you can assign levels to your product.
