The new QR code feature on the ZDHC Gateway allows formulators to generate unique QR codes for their chemical products. These QR codes can be printed on product barrels or packaging, giving your clients (suppliers) and other stakeholders an easy way to access verified product information with a quick scan.
Please refer to the below FAQs for a more detailed understanding of the new feature.
Product QR codes are unique, automatically generated codes that link directly to verified product information on the ZDHC Gateway. When printed on product barrels or packaging, they allow suppliers and other stakeholders to instantly view key product details, such as the ZDHC MRSL Conformance Level and product status, by scanning the code with a smartphone or tablet.
Using QR codes helps you:
Increase product visibility – Make your products easily recognisable and verifiable.
Enhance transparency – Clearly communicate product compliance and details to your customers.
Build trust – Demonstrate your commitment to responsible chemical management.
Improve efficiency – Simplify supplier verification and product handling at delivery or audit.
Prepare for future integration – In upcoming phases, QR codes may connect to InCheck Reports and streamline inventory uploads.
While not mandatory, QR codes are strongly encouraged to improve product traceability and industry transparency.
You can generate QR codes directly through the Products page on the ZDHC Gateway.
A detailed step-by-step guide is available here: 👉 How to Generate Product QR Codes on ZDHC Gateway.
Yes. You can select a single product, multiple products, or all products on your Products page and download their QR codes in one bulk action.
No. Unpublished products will not be included in the QR code download. Only published products will have a QR code generated.
If your file is small, it will download instantly as a ZIP folder.
-
For larger files, the download will occur in the background.
You’ll receive both a bell notification titled "QR Code Download Complete" on the ZDHC Gateway and an email. You can download the ZIP file directly from the email or via the bell notification. Once downloaded, extract the file to access your QR codes and print them on product barrels or packaging.
Scanning a product’s QR code will display:
Identification and status: Product Name, PID, Status, Expiration Date
ZDHC Conformance information: ZDHC MRSL Conformance Level, Chemicals to Zero Level
Other key details: Substrate, Use Category, Use Type
To view more detailed data, the viewer will need to log into the ZDHC Gateway.
If a product’s certification has expired, the QR code will display the Status as “expired” when scanned.
From that same page, the viewer can submit a re-certification request directly through the link provided. You will be notified when a re-certification request is made.
No need to regenerate it - each QR code is automatically linked to your product’s data on the ZDHC Gateway. When you update product information or certification, the QR code will display the most current data.
No, this feature is not mandatory, but ZDHC encourages formulators to use QR codes. They provide an effective way to increase product transparency, support compliance efforts, and strengthen relationships with your clients.
