01/ Introduction
The new QR code feature on the ZDHC Gateway allows formulators to generate unique QR codes for their chemical products. These QR codes can be printed on product barrels or packaging, giving your clients (suppliers) and other stakeholders an easy way to access verified product information with a quick scan.
Using QR codes helps formulators:
Increase product visibility – Make your products instantly recognisable and verifiable.
Strengthen trust and transparency – Show your commitment to product compliance and clear communication.
Save time in the supply chain – Help suppliers identify and manage your products more efficiently upon arrival.
Support digitalisation and traceability – Contribute to a smarter, more connected chemical management system.
This feature is optional but strongly encouraged, as it enhances confidence in your products and streamlines information sharing across the value chain.
02/ How to Generate QR Codes
Please follow the steps below to generate and download QR codes for your products on the ZDHC Gateway:
Log into the ZDHC Gateway. From the left navigation bar, click Products, then select the Products tab.
Select your products. Choose one product, multiple products, or all products for which you want to generate QR code(s).
On the far right of the page, click the Download button and select Download QR Code from the dropdown menu.
A pop-up window with a disclaimer message will appear. Note: Unpublished products will not be included in the download. After reading the message, click Continue to proceed.
Download the QR code file.
If the file is small, it will download instantly as a ZIP folder. You can extract the QR code file from this folder.
If the file is large, the download will occur in the background. A pop-up notification at the top of the page will confirm that the download is in progress. Once the file is ready, you’ll receive both a bell notification on the Gateway and an email. You can then click the notification titled "QR Code Download Complete" and "Click here to download" to retrieve your ZIP file or simply download it from the email.
Once downloaded, you can print the QR codes and place them on your product barrels or packaging for easy access by your clients.
03/ What Happens When a QR Code Is Scanned
When a supplier scans your product’s QR code using a smartphone or tablet, they’ll instantly see a summary of key product details, such as:
Identification and status
Product Name, PID, Status, Expiration Date
ZDHC Conformance information
ZDHC MRSL Conformance Level, Chemicals to Zero Level
Other key details
Substrate, Use Category, Use Type
To view more detailed product information, the viewer must log into the ZDHC Gateway.
If the product’s status is expired, the viewer can submit a re-certification request directly from the same page that opens after scanning the QR code. The formulator will be notified of this request.
