The ETP ZDHC Assessment is applicable to facilities with direct discharge, and which test wastewater and sludge as per ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines (latest version), irrespective of the threshold flow rate of 15m3/day.
Description of direct discharge facility
Direct discharge is a process in which the wastewater generated by a facility:
- Is treated through its own and operated effluent treatment plant with full ownership of the ETP operations.
- Is discharged directly to land, municipal sewers, or water bodies such as streams, lakes and oceans after the treatment is done at the in-house treatment plant.
These facilities include textile wet processors, garment laundries and washing units, printing facilities, leather tanneries and footwear facilities (including synthetic and leather).
