Chemical formulators should communicate early with customers about the V4.0 status of their formulations, particularly those that will no longer conform and require replacement or withdrawal.
They should communicate:
- Which formulations can receive updated V4.0 certification.
- Which formulations require reformulation or replacement.
- The expected availability of V4.0-certified alternatives.
- The certification status and ZDHC Gateway product IDs of available formulations.
- Any formulations that will be phased out or withdrawn.
Early communication will help suppliers plan purchasing, production trials, recipe adjustments and chemical inventory updates ahead of the 1 June 2028 supply chain implementation deadline.
