This article explains how to assign MRSL certifications to a product using the MRSL certifications table in the review panel.
01/ Introduction
ℹ️ If you used the previous ZDHC Gateway: The ways in which certifications can be added to product profiles remain available in the revamped ZDHC Gateway. ZDHC Approved MRSL Certifiers can add certifications by using the manual bulk upload function with a CSV file or through the Certifier API. In addition, the revamped ZDHC Gateway introduces a new option: chemical formulators can assign products to a certifier, allowing the certifier to assign certifications directly to those products. In the revamped ZDHC Gateway, every certification is also linked to a specific Safety Data Sheet version.
02/ Prerequisites
- You must have selected an SDS (formulator SDS or CB SDS) in the review panel before the MRSL certifications table is available. See How to select an SDS for review.
- The MRSL standards available to you depend on your organisation's accreditation. Only standards your organisation is approved for are shown. See MRSL Standards.
03/ The MRSL certifications table
The MRSL certifications table lists all MRSL standards your organisation is accredited to assign to this product. Each row represents one certifiable standard.
Table columns

| Level | The MRSL level this standard certifies: Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 |
| Expiration date | The date this standard (and any certification based on it) expires |
| Status | The current state of this certification for this product |
Status values
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Non-active | The toggle is off. No certification has been issued based on this standard. |
| Active | The toggle is on. The certification is live and will count towards the product's MRSL level. |
| Removed by CB | The toggle was previously active but has been manually turned off by your organisation. |
| Expired | The standard itself has expired. The toggle is disabled and cannot be reactivated. |
04/ Steps for certification assignment
- Open the product from the Approvals overview.
- Select an SDS. The MRSL certifications table unlocks.
- Find the standard you want to certify against in the table.
- Click the toggle in the first column to activate it. The toggle turns on and the status changes to Active.
- A confirmation toast notification confirms the save was successful. The certification is immediately live — no further action is required.
05/ Assigning multiple certifications
You can activate multiple standards simultaneously. For example, if you are accredited to assign Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 for a given MRSL version, you may toggle on all three — or only the highest level you wish to certify.
The assigned MRSL level shown below the table always reflects the highest active level. If Level 2 and Level 3 are both toggled on, the displayed level is Level 3.
💡 Tip: It is not necessary to assign Level 1 and Level 2 if you intend to certify at Level 3. You can toggle only the highest level. Assigning multiple levels is optional and at your organisation's discretion.
06/ Removing a certification
To remove a certification, toggle the active standard off. The status changes to Removed by CB and the certification is immediately deactivated. The product's MRSL level is recalculated based on the remaining active certifications.
⚠️ Note: Removing a certification may affect the product's overall status for the Chemical Formulator. If the removed certification was the only active one from your organisation, and no other CB has an active certification, the product may lose its Accepted status and be automatically unpublished.
07/ When a standard expires
If a standard expires while its toggle is active, it is automatically disabled. The status changes to Expired and the toggle cannot be reactivated. The product's MRSL level is recalculated automatically.
