The Resource Efficiency Module is divided into two sections:
-
Qualitative section (self-evaluation)
-
Quantitative section (consumption & GHG Calculator)
Qualitative
The qualitative section of the Resource Efficiency Module contains two elements:
The evaluation (Low-Hanging Fruit)
The evaluation consists of 300+ points related to water, energy and chemical use. It is divided into 14 chapters. Evaluation points are customised based on the supplier profile created in the ZDHC Gateway. Depending on the supplier profile, the relevant evaluation points will appear.
Recommendations
A supplier collects recommendations for implementing resource efficiency measures on the recommendation overview page. This page fills continuously as the facility works through the self-evaluation. Facilities can print out a PDF file, which can support them in getting the management-level endorsement of the recommendations.
Qualitative
The quantitative section of the Resource Efficiency Module helps suppliers measure their facility's direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2 and 3) emissions based on the information provided:
Consumption
Consumption is reported by year. This is separated into 12 categories, each focused on different activities (e.g. Electricity, Vehicles, Waste). Within each category, a facility inputs their monthly or yearly consumption for each source selected (e.g. standard electricity mix purchased, passenger car, mixed organics landfill).
GHG Reporting
Once a year's worth of information has been input and submitted, GHG emissions for each source are calculated to determine a facility's GHG emissions for the year. This is broken down into scope, year and source type. The GHG Reporting helps suppliers identify where improvements can and have been made.
