Not necessarily. If sufficient information on industrially viable substitutes is available, the ZDHC Candidate List substances may end up in the ZDHC MRSL Main List. However, if not enough information is available about substitutions to make a decision or if innovation is needed to find a safer alternative for that substance, then it may be possible that the ZDHC Candidate List substance may continue to be in the Candidate List (or, in rare cases, may be removed from the list) based on the available scientific information. However, stakeholders should make every effort to phase out these substances or replace them with safer alternatives ahead of their removal. This allows organisations sufficient time to make the necessary changes without causing unnecessary disruption.
