This article explains how Safety Data Sheet (SDS) visibility works in the ZDHC Gateway, how chemical formulators can make an SDS available, and what other organisations can do if they cannot access an SDS.
01/ Introduction
In the relaunched ZDHC Gateway, Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are not visible to Organisations by default.
Chemical Formulators remain responsible for uploading and managing the SDSs associated with their products. However, uploading an SDS does not automatically make the document visible to other Organisation Types. The chemical formulator must explicitly grant them visibility in their SDS Visibility Settings.
This gives chemical formulators greater control over the visibility of the documents associated with their products.
02/ Why can I no longer see an SDS by default?
If you are an organisation and cannot see the SDS for a chemical product, this does not mean that the SDS is missing from the ZDHC Gateway. The SDS may already have been uploaded by the chemical formulator, but its visibility has not yet been enabled.
SDS visibility is managed by the chemical formulator that owns the product.
03/ How can I make my SDSs visible? (Formulators)
Chemical formulators can manage SDS visibility from the relevant product in the ChemCheck module.
To make an SDS available:
Go to the ChemCheck module and then to ChemCheck Settings.
Open Product Details and click on Edit.
Move the toggles for the organisation types you want to view the SDSs for your products. Then click on Save Changes.
The organisation types will now show as Enabled.
Note: To enable visibility settings for your SDSs, you first need to enable them for your organisation profile. You can do this from Profile Visibility.
04/ What should I do if I can’t see the SDSs from a chemical formulator? (Other Organisations)
If you cannot access an SDS for a product, contact the chemical formulator directly and ask them to check the SDS visibility settings for that product.
The ZDHC Gateway does not automatically make an uploaded SDS visible, so the chemical formulator may need to enable access before you can view it.
If the chemical formulator confirms that access has already been enabled but the SDS is still not visible, contact the ZDHC Customer Support Team at support@zdhc.org for assistance.
