This article explains how chemical products are assigned to your organisation in ChemCheck, what triggers a product to appear in your approvals overview, and what happens if a formulator removes the assignment.
01/ Introduction
ℹ️ If you used the previous ZDHC Gateway: In the previous ZDHC Gateway, ZDHC Approved MRSL Certifiers could add certifications to products through the manual bulk upload function or the Certifier API, without the product being explicitly assigned to them. In the revamped ZDHC Gateway, these options remain available, with CSV used for manual bulk uploads instead of Excel. In addition, formulators can now explicitly assign certifiers to products, allowing certifiers to add certifications directly to that assigned product.
02/ How assignment works
Formulators can assign your organisation to their products. This provides an additional way for you to add certifications to products directly in the ZDHC Gateway. You can also add certifications through the manual bulk upload function using a CSV file or through the Certifier API.
When a formulator assigns your organisation to a product either during product creation or at a later point via the product's Certificates tab the following happens:
- The product immediately appears in your Approvals overview.
- The product's status in your overview is set to Under Review.
- The assignment date is recorded and visible in the Approvals table.
⚠️ Note: The platform does not send an automatic notification when a product is assigned to you. Formulators are instructed to contact your organisation directly after assigning. If you are expecting a product to appear in your overview and it has not, ask the formulator to confirm the assignment has been saved.
03/ What you can see
Once a product is assigned to you, you can see:
- The product name and ID
- The name of the formulator organisation
- The current assignment status
- The Safety Data Sheet(s) associated with the product
- The MRSL standards you are accredited to assign
You cannot see products from other ZDHC Approved MRSL Certifiers' assignments, and you cannot see products that have not been assigned to you — even if those products are published in search.
04/ When a formulator removes the assignment
If a formulator unassigns your organisation from a product at any point, the product is immediately removed from your Approvals overview. You will no longer be able to access the product or take any action on it through the assignment workflow. Any certifications you had previously assigned remain on the product and are not automatically removed.
The removal event is recorded in your activity log.
05/ Multiple certifiers on the same product
It is possible for a formulator to assign multiple certifiers to the same product simultaneously. Each ZDHC Approved MRSL Certifier reviews the product independently and assigns their own MRSL and CtZ certifications. You only see your own assignment and cannot see the actions or certifications assigned by other ZDHC Approved MRSL Certifiers.
