This article explains how to unpublish a ChemCheck product and what happens to its visibility and associated data when you do.
01/ Introduction
If you need to temporarily or permanently remove a product from public search, you can unpublish it at any time from the product detail page. Unpublishing immediately removes the product from search results for all other organisation types. The product itself is not deleted — it remains in your portfolio and retains all its data.
02/ Steps
- Open the product from your product portfolio.
- On the product detail page, locate the Publish toggle. It shows as active (on) for a published product.
- Click the toggle to turn it off. A confirmation prompt appears.
- Confirm the action. The product is immediately unpublished.
03/ What happens after unpublishing
| Search visibility | The product is immediately removed from search results for Suppliers, Brands, Vendors, and other organisations. |
| Product status | Returns to Accepted (the product is still certified — it is just no longer public). |
| Product data | All product details, certifications, and SDS history are fully retained. |
04/ Re-publishing a product
To make the product visible in search again, follow the steps in How to publish a product. No re-certification is needed as long as the existing certification has not expired.
05/ Tips & Notes
Note: Unpublishing is immediate. Any user who previously found the product in search will no longer be able to access it.
Tip: If you are reformulating a product or replacing its SDS, consider unpublishing it temporarily while the update is in progress. This prevents other organisations from seeing outdated certification information.
