The ZDHC MMCF Guidelines V3.0 have introduced several important updates to the wastewater parameters to improve testing clarity and alignment with the broader ZDHC Wastewater and sludge Guidelines framework.

Key updates include:

  1. Revised table titles: The parameter tables have been updated from “conventional, additional, and specific parameters related to MMCF production” to:
    a. Conventional and anion parameters
    b. Heavy metals

  2. Parameter changes:

    • CS₂ and APEO have been removed from the parameter list.

    • Absolute temperature (to be used when temperature difference measurement is not possible) and persistent foam have been added as conventional wastewater parameters.

    • Sulphate (SO₄²⁻) has been added as both a conventional parameter (for sampling and reporting) and as a load-based parameter.

  3. Updated parameter limits:

    • The aspirational limit for BOD (5-day concentration) has been updated.

    • The limit for oil and grease has been revised across all performance levels — Foundational, Progressive, and Aspirational (F/P/A).

    • The limit for total phenol / phenol index has been updated at the Aspirational Level.

    • The limit for nickel has been revised.

  4. Heavy metals list updated:

    • Cadmium, chromium (VI) and mercury have been removed from the list of heavy metals.
