A sound chemical management system (CMS) supports worker safety and the reduction of environmental impacts within the community and the broader environment from manufacturing processes. The scope of implementation needs to be defined by each organisation and may range from only the organisations' specific operating unit(s) to all parts of its value chain. A CMS can be part of the wider Environmental Management System of an organisation which addresses the complete environmental impact of the organisation.
