Development of the ZDHC CMS guidance has been ongoing since 2015. In line with the continuous development and updates to ZDHC Solutions and Platforms, CMS guidance should be maintained and updated to reflect the latest, most robust chemical management framework. This will better assist brands and supply chain partners to implement and adopt ZDHC Solutions and Platforms.
The what and how of the ZDHC CMS is now separated into two parts. The ZDHC CMS Framework will cover the minimum elements required by the ZDHC CMS.
Together they form the ZDHC Chemical Management System, the framework containing the minimum requirements and the ZDHC Technical Industry Guide implementing the CMS at a supplier.
The ZDHC CMS Framework explains the basics of chemical management and can be read by anyone who is interested in the topic. While the core audience is brands and facility management, there are also elements that apply to chemical formulators and other stakeholders in the supply chain.
ZDHC and SAC collaborate to ensure that when updates are implemented in the supply chain the Higg FEM is also updated to reflect those changes.
The ZDHC CMS Framework provides the minimum elements of a Chemical Management System, whilst the Technical Industry Guide will provide manufacturing facilities with information on how to implement a chemical management system.
