The Input Management section of the ZDHC MMCF Guidelines V3.0 focuses on responsible sourcing of raw materials and sustainable management of input chemicals used in fibre manufacturing.
1.Sourcing of Dissolved Pulp Feedstock
MMCF facilities are required to:
Integrate the ZDHC Dissolved Pulp Guidelines V1.0 into their internal sourcing policies for feedstock procurement.
Engage with dissolved pulp suppliers to raise awareness about ZDHC requirements and encourage participation in the ZDHC Dissolved Pulp Module on the Supplier Platform.
Conduct Canopy-style audits of pulp suppliers and prioritise FSC or PEFC certified inputs to ensure traceable and deforestation-free sourcing.
2.Input Chemical Management
MMCF facilities shall:
Monitor and record the monthly average chemical consumption per unit of fibre produced.
Ensure that chemical consumption per tonne of fibre or filament remains within the recommended ranges specified in the ZDHC MMCF Guidelines.
These requirements promote sustainable sourcing, transparency across the supply chain, and responsible chemical use aligned with the broader ZDHC Roadmap to Zero goals.
