Recycled polyester facilities using glycolysis and methanolysis techniques for chemical recycling must implement and report solvent recovery under process management on the ZDHC platform. The key requirements are as follows:

• Maintain detailed records of all solvent recovery activities and calculations 

• Meet the chemical recovery requirement specified in Tables 2, 3, and 4, based on the type of process (e.g., glycolysis, methanolysis).

• Report chemical recovery data as a yearly average for the calendar year (from 1^st January to  31^st December) on a ZDHC platform to evaluate against the limit values.

A. Safe Chemical Storage

Facilities should implement safe practices for chemical storage, including:

• Designing a dedicated and safe chemical storage area.

• Labeling all chemical containers to communicate potential hazards.

• Ensuring all containers are labelled correctly and taking corrective actions if labels are missing or inaccurate.

• Prepare and display chemical safety cards at storage locations for quick reference.

B. Chemical Handling and Worker Safety:

To prioritise safety in chemical handling, facilities should:

• Implement both engineering and administrative controls to manage risks.

• Plan and enforce appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for workers involved in chemical handling.

C. Training Plan for chemical management :

Facilities should provide comprehensive training to all relevant employees and downstream suppliers on sustainable chemical management practices
