ZDHC Gateway supports the implementation of Chemicals to Zero, and since the launch of the transitional phase of Chemicals to Zero-Progressive (CtZ-P) on the platform, Formulators might be required to take action on some of their products.

Learn how to view the Chemical to Zero (CtZ) status of your products, see whether any of your products require action to be taken to showcase as CtZ-P and how this can be done.

Let's get started!

01/ Introduction

Chemicals to Zero is a ZDHC programme developed to drive better chemistry in chemical products used in the apparel, footwear, leather and textile industry.

The ZDHC MRSL Conformance Guidance V2.0 is the basis for products to qualify for the CtZ Foundational level. Building on this established requirement, the CtZ Progressive level expands this into predicting risks towards the AFIRM RSL in final articles (end products).

The launch of the transitional phase of Chemicals to Zero-Progressive (CtZ-P) on the ZDHC Gateway might require Formulators to take action on their ZDHC Gateway published products, which are certified for ZDHC MRSL v3.1, Level 3 conformance by the select MRSL Certifiers.

The third-party certification schemes that have been provisionally approved by ZDHC for CtZ-P and the products certified by them can be categorised as CtZ-P in the ZDHC Gateway, subject to a self-declaration from the Formulator.

02/ Find products that require action on CtZ

To check if any of your products require action on CtZ, simply:

  1. Check the PRODUCTS tab on the left navigation panel.
  2. The action required will be indicated by a red dot next to the icon Screenshot 2023-07-27 at 22.20.52.png. Screenshot 2023-07-27 at 22.17.08.png
  3. Products that require action will be listed under the Bulk Self Declaration tab.

03/ Bulk self-declare products as CtZ-P conformant

Where products meet the criteria to be categorised as CtZ-P, the Formulator must sign a self-declaration.

Note: Unless the self-declaration is signed off, the chemical formulation(s) will not be categorised as Progressive in the ZDHC Gateway and will remain visible at MRSL Level 3 Conformance (CtZ- Foundational).

To self-declare your products in bulk:

  1. Click PRODUCTS on the left navigation panel.
  2. The Bulk Self-Declaration tab will automatically open. The red dot indicates there are products that require self-declaration, and the CtZ Conformance status appears as For Confirmation. Screenshot 2023-07-27 at 22.37.51.png
  3. Review the list and select the products you would like to self-declare as CtZ-P conformant. Note: you can select all by checking the box next to Product Name.
  4. Once you selected the product(s), click the Self Declaration Statement button that will appear in the top right corner. Screenshot 2023-07-27 at 22.51.51.png
  5. Read the statement and click the Sign Self Declaration button. Screenshot 2023-07-27 at 22.56.03.png

Once you signed the self-declaration, the products are now categorised as Chemicals to Zero-Progressive and visible within the ZDHC Gateway as such.

04/ Self-declare a single product as CtZ-P conformant

When adding or editing a certificate, you will have the option to self-declare the product as CtZ-P, if relevant:

  1. Click PRODUCTS on the left navigation panel.
  2. Make sure the Products tab is open and find the right product in the list.
  3. Click on the product name to open its page. Screenshot 2023-07-27 at 23.24.49.png
  4. Under Certification, click ADD NEW to add a new certificate or edit an already existing one by clicking the Edit Screenshot 2023-07-27 at 23.28.52.png button.
  5. When selecting a Certification Standard that meets the criteria to be categorised as CtZ-P, the self-declaration will automatically appear below.
  6. Read the statement and click the Sign Self Declaration button. Screenshot 2023-07-27 at 23.37.24.png Note: if you are not ready to sign the self-declaration and just want to add/edit a certificate, you are not required to do it at this step. You may self-declare it later (please see 03/ Bulk self-declare products as CtZ-P conformant).
  7. Click SAVE.
