What is the procedure for updating the ZDHC MRSL?
The ZDHC MRSL is periodically updated, to include new hazardous substances. The ZDHC MRSL Update - Principles and Procedures (PnP) document contains and explains the process used to update the ZDHC MRSL.
Do substances on the ZDHC Candidate List always end up on the ZDHC MRSL?
No, it can also mean there is not enough information available to make a decision or that innovation is needed to find a safer alternative for that substance.
What is the ZDHC MRSL Advisory Council and what does it do?
The MRSL Council is an independent group who uses a science-based approach to review proposed substances and make decisions as whether to add these substances to the current version of the MRSL.
The MRSL Council is composed of technical experts (Council members) from diverse segments of the textile, apparel, leather, and footwear industry, and other significant stakeholders with relevant industry knowledge and experience. The group has a chairperson to manage and organise the group’s activities.
What is the ZDHC MRSL Submission Platform?
The ZDHC MRSL Submission Platform gives the industry and the general public a channel to propose new substances for addition to the ZDHC MRSL.
To protect data integrity, users are given a set of clear instructions, via a link to the ZDHC MRSL Update Principles and Procedures. This important document describes the process and information required to successfully submit a proposal to be considered for inclusion in the ZDHC MRSL. Submissions made via the platform will be considered for the next ZDHC MRSL update. A transparent process and a clear set of standards ensure the objective evaluation of chemicals. They were created by an independent ZDHC MRSL Advisory Council (MAC), which makes the final decisions on substances and limit values. ZDHC also provides a live demonstration, with a step-by-step guide to adding substances or amending information on the Submission Platform.
